Apply to the BGTW

Thank your for your interest in joining the BGTW.

Before you apply, please take a look at our application criteria below, which will give you an insight into the calibre of our members.

That said, we aim to be a welcoming and inclusive community of travel media professionals, and we recognise that the realities of working in this industry are constantly changing. Writers, photographers, bloggers, podcasters … all of us have a role to play, so if you’re uncertain about whether to apply, please email our Membership Director, Sarah Rodrigues, at [email protected].

We will consider

– freelance/staff travel writers, bloggers, editors, photographers or broadcasters working solely or primarily in travel

– Those who live in the UK/Ireland, or hold a British/Irish passport, or work for predominantly British/Irish travel publications

– Those have not worked in travel PR in the past 12 months

In the past year, freelancers should have produced either

-a sufficient number of travel articles (as either writer or editor), with sufficiency dependent on the nature and depth of the features

-one guidebook or travel book (as either writer or editor)

-15 published travel photographs or 60 minutes of broadcasted video or audio.

-a combination of the above

The Board will evaluate the style and content of the work and the outlets in which it appears.

Similarly, the Board will evaluate the content and style of blogs, which should have been updated at least fortnightly over the past three years. Bloggers should be able to demonstrate a consistent and considerable number of monthly visitors.

All travel professionals joining the BGTW will be required to adhere to our Code of Conduct, which you can learn about via our Members’ Page once admitted.

If you believe you qualify, please enter your details below to apply.

A full membership subscription costs £175 per year, plus a one-off £50 admin fee when you join us. Please note that if you cancel your membership, or pause it for more than two years, the application process recommences and the admin fee is again chargeable.
