In 2025, two small groups of BGTW members visited the Algarve. The itineraries aimed to explore beyond “sun, sea and sand”, covering the region’s culinary credentials and, for the second trip, hiking trails, walking festivals and inland villages.
Some of the resulting coverage includes:
- Authentic Algarve: exploring Portugal beyond the beach – The Guardian (online and print) by Sarah Rodrigues
- ‘I visited the ‘other’ side of the Algarve – it was hugely rewarding’ – Yorkshire Post and The Scotsman (online and print) by Lindsay Sutton
- Fruits of the land and sea – Supper Magazine (print) by Renate Ruge
- The other Algarve – Western Morning News and Western Daily Press (print) by Martin Hesp
- Experience the Authentic Algarve – EXCELLE Magazine (print) by Lynne Coates
- From tees to trails, there’s a world of outdoor adventures in Algarve – The Telegraph by Daniel James Clarke
- The Art of the Algarve – The Sybarite by Sarah Rodrigues
- The Algarve Everyone Warns You About? It’s Not the One I Discovered – The Boutique Adventurer by Amanda O’Brien
- Monchique Chestnut Festival: A Unique Autumn Celebration in the Algarve – Martin Hesp Food & Travel by Martin Hesp
Thank you to the Algarve Tourism Board and Surinder Manku at P1 Communications for their support and organising these two trips.
