On 12 June 2026, a cohort of BGTW Members (and plus ones) headed to Blackpool for our spring “Big Day Out” hosted by the wonderful team at the famous Blackpool Pleasure Beach and the stylish, sea-view Boulevard Hotel – Blackpool’s only 5-star hotel.
What a rollercoaster of a day it was! As the Pleasure Beach Resort celebrates 130 years in 2026, brave souls ventured on the new ride Aviktas, though many tried the more PG rides like the carousel and Alice in Wonderland. We also enjoyed a behind-the-scenes look at the Hot Ice Show’s wardrobe, finding feathers and sequins, as well as meeting the long-standing teams who work so hard on signwriting, prop development and keeping the park running perfectly. We rounded off the day with a drink at the resort’s White Tower Restaurant, followed by supper at traditional Bentley’s Fish & Chip shop for fish and chips with requisite Lancashire-style mushy peas and gravy. This was followed by a walk on the Pier and some spins on the 2p slots. Staying at the swish Boulevard hotel made for a grand getaway.
