3 September 2024: The British Guild of Travel Writers (BGTW) today announces that the 2024 BGTW Annual Gala Awards Dinner will take place on Monday, 4th November 2024 at The Bloomsbury Ballroom in central London. The theme of this year’s prestigious Gala Dinner will be The Roaring ‘20s and The Great Gatsby, a perfect fit with the art deco-style venue. The event, on the eve of World Travel Market, will feature the Members’ Excellence Awards and BGTW International Tourism Awards.
The highly anticipated annual event will bring together 250 ambassadors, ministers of state for tourism, PRs, and BGTW members, along with national and international editors, journalists and broadcasters.
The 17 Members’ Excellence Awards recognise outstanding writing, photography, blogging and broadcasting published in mainstream national and international media, as well as online. There are 12 writing awards, two photography awards, two broadcasting awards and two blogging awards. Categories include BGTW Travel Writer of the Year, BGTW Photographer of the Year, BGTW Travel Blogger of the Year, BGTW Travel Broadcaster of the Year, BGTW Rising Talent Award, BGTW Inclusivity in Travel Award, BGTW Journey Feature of the Year, BGTW Sustainability Feature of the Year and more.
The BGTW International Tourism Awards,nominated by British Guild of Travel Writers members, champion often small, little-known sights, trails and local initiatives. There are four International Tourism Awards categories: Best UK & Ireland Tourism Project, Best Europe Tourism Project, Best Wider World Tourism Project, and Better World Project – for Sustainability, Conservation and Cultural Preservation.

The awards are always one of the highlights of the travel industry calendar on the eve of World Travel Market (WTM). We’re promising to put on a very special evening once more. The distinguished awards not only acknowledge the hard work of our talented BGTW members, but also the innovative tourism initiatives from around the world.”
Tickets for the event are now on sale for £245 plus VAT. The price of each ticket includes a Champagne Reception and networking, a three-course sit-down dinner with wine, fabulous Great Gatsby entertainment, the awards ceremonies and an after-party bar and dancing. A grand raffle on the evening will raise money for the BGTW’s chosen charity. Prizes include holidays and more.
