Charity Raffle prize generosity raises £4067 – BGTW Events 2016

To all the generous providers of prizes for the charity raffle at our annual gala awards dinner – a big thank you. A mighty big thank you too from Survival International, which benefitted to the tune of £4067.

The cheque was handed over to the charity’s founding trustee, travel writer Robin Hanbury-Tenison, during the event at London’s Savoy Hotel. He had explained the organisation’s beginnings to the 300 guests and described some of its work to help peoples evicted– or threatened with eviction – from their native lands by governments and big business.

Much appreciation then to Dari Indera Villas and Spa and Garuda Indonesia for a luxury holiday for two in Bali, including seven night’ stay in a five star, fully staffed villa, return business class flights, airport transfers, welcome dinner, and breakfast daily.

To the Fairmont Savoy for a one night stay at the Savoy Hotel with breakfast and afternoon tea.

To Open Top Touring, the Swan at Lavenham Hotel & Spa and Brudenell Hotel, Aldeburgh for a two day Suffolk tour with hire of a classic 1970s MGB sports car and dinner, bed and breakfast at the Swan Hotel in Lavenham – then the Brudenell Hotel in Aldeburgh.

To The Gambia Experience for a week’s holiday for two in The Gambia, staying at luxury boutique hotel Ngala with breakfast and including return flights from Gatwick to Banjul with Titan Airways and transfers.

To Pas de CalaisNajeti Hotels, and DFDS Seaways for a four day self drive trip to Pas de Calais for two. The prize includes ferry crossings, each of four nights in a different Najeti Hotel – and four gourmet restaurant meals.

To ReYOUreset for a digital detox for a family of four. They will spend 24 hours in woodlands learning how to live off the land, forage for food, build fires and tell time by the stars.

To Explore Alacati,  Pegasus Airlines and four resorts on Turkey’s Aegean coast – Alavya, Beyevi, Chigdem and Ichirliev) for an eight day stay for two people in Alacati including stays at at Explore Alacati boutique hotels on a bed and breakfast basis and return flights from London to Izmir.

To Historic House Hotels  for a two night stay for two at the 17th century Middlethorpe Hall and Spa, including one evening dinner and spa treatments.

To Great Rail Journeys and Visit Flanders for a mini break to Antwerp, including return train travel from London, two nights at the four star Radisson Blue Astrid, visitor cards and a meal for two in the Ardent restaurant.

And to Helpful Holidays for a week’s stay at the historic, Grade II-listed Great Bidlake Manor in the Dartmoor National Park, accommodating up to 13 guests.
