Biography :
Alicia's travel writing career sprung from an earlier passion, the interior design of international hotels, resorts, restaurants and spas for studios based in Denver, Colorado, and London. Upon the completion of her MBA from the French university ESLSCA, and drawing inspiration from her years selling wine, she wrote the ‘Going Out’ chapter of Dubai-based Explorer Publishing’s The Complete Residents’ Guide to Paris, which was released in 2008. Whilst working in London as a hotel interior designer, and subsequently, in marketing for hospitality architects and designers, she was occasionally commissioned by B2B design and hospitality publications to write articles about topics completely independent from her PR work. In conjunction with launching Read Thread, her ghostwriting business working with entrepreneurs, creatives and venture capitalists, Alicia continues to write design articles, as well as regional development reports, for the hotel industry’s oldest publication, HOTELS, which has been in print for over 50 years. She was also the international editor of Boutique Design, a magazine focused on high-style hospitality design across the globe. Alicia also writes for the publications Hospitality Design, Starboard and DesignWell; moderates discussion panels online and at hospitality conferences in New York, Los Angeles and London; and is on the board of the UK chapter of NEWH (Network of Executive Women in Hospitality), a global charity raising scholarship funds for hospitality design students.
