Biography

British-born, but based in the Algarve, Portugal (previously Australia and New Zealand), Daniel has a passion for slow, sustainable travel. He recently undertook his most ambitious no-fly journey yet, a six-month train, ferry and bus adventure from Faro to the Faroe Islands (via the Baltics and Nordics) and then back down from the Arctic to Africa, ending in Essaouira. When back in England, he spends his time between Dorset and London.

Bylines include: Lonely Planet (guidebooks and digital), The Guardian, The Observer, The Telegraph, The Times, Rough Guides, National Geographic Traveller, Weather2Travel, Preferred Travel, Going, and more. He is currently completing the NCTJ Diploma in Journalism.

His photography has been used by Lonely Planet, Grazia, Vogue and various tourism boards. His images of The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo are currently part of the GREAT! campaign displayed across Heathrow Airport. Daniel's videography assignments have included extended projects with EU Aid in Jamaica and Festivals Edinburgh as their blogger-in-residence. His personal travel blog reaches nearly one million readers annually.
