Biography

Writing mainly for the Times, Sunday Times and Financial Times, James is a two-times Travel Writer of the Year who has written for most of the UK’s national newspapers, both as a travel journalist and on stories ranging from big-wave surfers to plastic pollution. He specialises in travel stories rooted in bigger ideas, emerging destinations, experiential travel and activities – a sailor, surfer, scuba-diver and hiker, he has carved out a niche writing about extreme adventures that are open to amateurs. Magazine work includes cross-over features, often with an environmental slant (especially the issue of marine plastic), and interview features. He occasionally works as a public speaker.
