Freelance travel writer, author, photographer and editor specialising in the nexus of travel, wildlife and conservation. Author of 17 books (2010-25), covering Spain, France, Iberia more widely, the whole of Europe, Pantanal (Brazil/Bolivia/Paraguay), Antarctica. Updated the Bradt Guide to the Arctic, published in 2026. Recent travel bylines in BBC Countryfile, BBC Wildlife, The Simple Things, and BirdWatching. Editor of Neotropical Birding, the only magazine to focus on birdwatching activities in Central & South America, and BirdingASIA (ditto for Asia) – commissioning travel articles for both. Monthly columnist for BirdWatching magazine. Constant feature writer for BirdLife magazine. Nature-tour leader for Wildlife Travel (covering UK, Europe, Africa).
