Biography
Katie MacLeod is an award-winning journalist and travel blogger from the Scottish islands. Having travelled to 22 countries and lived in three – including a year spent in Tianjin, China – she is now based in New York City.As a journalist, her travel writing has been published in BBC Travel, Buzzfeed, AFAR, Roads and Kingdoms, and more. She has appeared as a guest speaker on STV News and BBC Radio 5 Live, and her photography has been seen in BBC Travel, Roads and Kingdoms, and Scottish Islands Explorer.
Katie is also the founder of the award-winning travel blog Stories My Suitcase Could Tell, which has featured in the likes of National Geographic Traveller, Buzzfeed, Wanderlust Magazine, and AFAR. She was named as one of Scotland’s Top 100 Women in Tourism in 2020, and has been shortlisted for and won multiple industry awards over the years. Most recently, she was a finalist for Travel Blogger of the Year at the BGTW Members’ Excellence Awards 2025, and awarded silver for Travel Blogger of the Year at the AITO Awards 2025.
