Biography

Melanie, an award-winning freelance food, wine and travel writer, is endlessly curious about different countries, cultures and cuisines, with a keen interest in gastro-tourism and learning about communities through their food history. She has eaten her way around 65 countries, and her gastro-travel blog, Travel Eat Write Repeat, brings you the amusing adventures of a hungry traveller.

A professional writer for 15 years, Melanie is a versatile storyteller with a flair for wordplay and the ability to paint a vivid picture for her readers. Writing for various websites and national and international print publications, she particularly enjoys writing about skiing, solo adventures, gastro-tourism, wine tourism, road trips and driving holidays. She is also the voice behind a popular weekly radio show, discussing travel topics with a station audience of 309,000 listeners.

In the motoring world, Melanie spends significant time on the road, testing cars and designing epic road trips. She holds WSET Level 2 and Level 3 Awards in Wines and is a member of the British Guild of Travel Writers and the Irish Food Writers' Guild. She has had the honour of judging for the Travel Media Awards and brings her expertise to tasting and judging panels for events like The Guild of Fine Food Great Taste Awards, The Irish Quality Food and Drink Awards, and The Big Grill Festival's Pit Masters BBQ competition.

In addition to her work in media, Melanie is pursuing a master’s in psychotherapy, adding another dimension to her understanding of people and places.
