Melanie spent five years backpacking solo around the world and turned her wanderlust into a career when she became a freelance writer and photographer a decade ago. Based in Dublin, she now writes for various print and online publications and particularly enjoys writing about skiing, gastro-tourism, wine tourism, road trips and driving holidays. She has a WSET Level 3 Award in Wines. She also has a weekly radio slot (370,000 weekly listenership) where she discusses all things travel. Melanie founded her blog Travel Eat Write Repeat in 2004 to tell the stories of the places she visits and the people she meets, often through food. She frequently speaks about blogging, social media strategy, food and travel, and storytelling. When not travelling or writing about travelling, she can be found in the kitchen recreating dishes she has eaten on her travels. These recipes eventually make it onto her blog. She is also a motoring journalist and spends a lot of time on the road testing cars and plotting epic road trips. She won the 'Best Newcomer' award at the Travel Extra Travel Journalist of the Year Awards 2018 and is a member of the Irish Food Writers' Guild.
