Biography

I’m a travel writer, blogger, broadcaster and photographer based on the outskirts of Edinburgh, whose travels have taken me to over 100 countries. My specialities include my native Scotland, as well as Spain, Portugal, France, the Baltics, Croatia and Slovenia. I cover everything from city breaks and hotel reviews, through to hiking and expedition cruises. I have cruised over 100 times as the industry grows and grows.

In over two decades writing about travel I’ve been published in most UK newspapers and travel magazines, as well as publications across five continents. Recent credits include the Telegraph, Daily Mail, i Paper, Independent, Wanderlust and National Geographic Traveller. I have a regular travel page in the Sunday National and two monthly sections in the Herald. The author of over 30 travel books, I also talk travel on radio and TV, plus blog for other websites. I am very active on social media with over 30,000 followers across Twitter and over 6,000 on Instagram.
