Former travel & aviation correspondent/travel editor of Evening Standard. Covered major travel industry events over 45 years, eg launch and collapses of package tour operating giants, the rise of low cost flying. Reported on the development oif Concorde and flew on its first commercial service with British Airways. Has written for outlets including. FT, Guardian, Times and Mail on Sunday. Joint author Flight to the Sun, a history of the phenomenal growth of mass travel. Awards include recognition for lifetime contribution to travel writing. Until recently long serving member of committee advising on consumers air travel financial protection. Veteran skier – has skied over 140 resorts.
