Biography
An award-winning journalist, author and photographer, William Gray has over 30 years' experience working for magazine publishers, conservation organisations and as a widely-published freelancer. A zoologist, conservationist and passionate advocate of responsible tourism, he has received over 20 journalism awards, including AITO Travel Writer of the Year and BGTW Travel Photographer of the Year.Will has written for numerous publications, from National Geographic Traveler and The Sunday Times to BBC Wildlife, Wanderlust and Travel Africa. Will’s books include Travel with Kids, Cornwall with Kids and Wildlife Travel (Footprint), and Family Wildlife Adventures (Bradt Travel Guides). His latest book is Photography Weekends Britain and he is currently working on a new title, Costa Rica Wildlife Travel, both also by Bradt.
Over 1,000 of Will's travel, landscape and wildlife photographs are represented by leading picture library, AWL Images, while his photography workshops are available in the Cotswolds, Cornwall and Lake District, as well as Namibia, Costa Rica and Iceland. An experienced speaker, Will was a presenter on the BBC Holiday programme and regularly gives talks and seminars at shows like Destinations and the Adventure Travel Show. He has also been a judge for Wanderlust magazine's Travel Photographer of the Year competition.
