Biography
As a passionate advocate for outdoor accessibility, I work to make the countryside more inclusive for people with mobility challenges. My love for hiking and the therapeutic benefits of nature fuel this mission. Despite using a wheelchair due to spinal degeneration, I refuse to let my disability stop me from enjoying and promoting the outdoors. In 2022, I was appointed Disability and Access Ambassador for the Countryside by the Cabinet Office. Through contributions to BBC Countryfile and Charitable Travel, I share insights on accessible travel.Recently, I had written my third book for the Path Finder series by Ordnance Survey, where I focused on creating routes for walks without stiles in North Yorkshire. This project allowed me to further my dedication to accessibility, which has now extended into a commission with Bloomsbury Press for a comprehensive travel book covering Great Britain. Along my travels, I've had the privilege of meeting and interviewing individuals who have overcome significant challenges through outdoor experiences, highlighting the profound impact nature can have on our lives.
My influence within the outdoor community is broad, with regular contributions to BBC Countryfile and Charitable Travel. Being a wheelchair user myself, I offer first-hand insights into my travel experiences, sharing best practices and shedding light on areas that need improvement. Despite encountering obstacles along the way, I remain committed to empowering others through informative articles that help them navigate accessible travel destinations and ensure inclusivity for all.
