Biography

In addition to her professional role in higher education, Dr Jenny Walker has been writing travel guides (mainly for Lonely Planet) for over 20 years, contributing to more than 50 guidebooks covering three continents. With a BA from Stirling University, MPhil from Oxford, and a PhD from Nottingham Trent, her research interest is focused on the perception of the Arabic Orient in anglophone literature. A Fellow of the RGS, and now based in Spain, she co-wrote an off-road guide to Oman (her home for two decades) and recently authored a book on contemporary desert travel literature for Routledge.
