Biography :
Based in the mountains of Mid Wales, Kerry Walker is an award-winning British travel writer, author, photographer, translator and co-founder of Undiscovered Wales. She is also lover of mountains, cold places and true wilderness.
Kerry’s travels have taken her to all seven continents – from the frozen wilderness of Antarctica and the Arctic to the Australian Outback. Over the years she has hitchhiked with Thai royalty, sledged with Tibetan monks, served beer at Oktoberfest and swum with whale sharks – all in the name of a story.
Kerry’s writing appears regularly in publications including the Telegraph, Times Travel, Lonely Planet, National Geographic Traveller, Condé Nast Traveller and the Independent. A specialist in Central and Southern Europe, Kerry is the author/co-author of more than 20 Lonely Planet guidebooks and coffee table titles. She is a destination expert for the Telegraph (Wales and Austria) and Times Travel (Europe).
Often travelling with her camera in hand, Kerry’s photography endeavours to capture subtle nuances in light, textural detail and unusual angles, with the aim of capturing the personality and changing moods of a place.
Besides six years living in Germany’s Black Forest, Kerry has also lived for short periods in Spain, France, Greece and Switzerland. A translator qualified to MA level, she can speak fluent German, Spanish and French, as well as some Portuguese and Italian. She translates and writes copy for high-profile clients including Switzerland Tourism and luxury hotel brand Giardino.
Kerry is available for freelance writing, photography, translation and copywriting assignments. She is never happier than when planning her next adventure…
