  • Matt Simester

Biography :
Matt's passion for travel was sparked by a gift of a flight to New Zealand at 21 from his father. His first time on a plane. Since then he has not looked back. While he worked at the Economist Newspaper in his 20's his writing was on financial services and he remained in this sector. However when possible through his 40's Matt wrote, albeit irregularly for the Daily and Sunday Express, often around family cruising. In his 50's this continued, although commissions were widened with articles for World of Cruising and Best Magazine. Subsequently in the last couple of years Matt has also had commissions for the Daily Mail where his pieces were the main features. Sadly Covid has delayed his pivot away from financial services towards freelance travel journalism. However given Matt's continued output (albeit on an irregular basis), plus regular commissions for the worlds' leading English language website (the next is a family cruise this Christmas). Matt's niches going forward will be spread across cruising, family holidays with teenagers, and unique and unusual destinations for the over 50 traveller.
